Voters at some polling stations in Insiza constituency are reportedly being forced to submit their voter registration information such as serial numbers to unknown people masquerading as polling officers.
MATABELELAND SOUTH, (Citizens Reports) - Voters at some polling stations in Insiza constituency are reportedly being forced to submit their voter registration information such as serial numbers to people masquading as polling officials.
The information, citizen reporters allege, is also demanded by some rogue chiefs and headmen from their subjects immediately after registration.
This report has been leaked by Biometric Voter Registration observers stationed at some polling stations (names withheld to protect observers) in the Constituency.
The observers who confided to our citizen reporters could not disclose more information for fear of scuttling investigations on the matter which has since been reported to ZEC, the country’s elections governing body.
However, outspoken ZEC Commissioner Qhubani Moyo said while the electoral body was yet to receive a report about the matter, it was not its policy to engage in activities unrelated to its mandate.
Moyo said this while responding to a question by a user on Facebook.
