Expecting mothers who test positive to COVID-19 while outside the metropolitan city of Bulawayo now spend more time worrying about how they will get back home than celebrating their children’s births.

The Matabeleland South community has over the years felt short-changed by the central government’s failure to adequately address concerns raised during budget consultations. This year’s venue was out of reach for the province’s majority, purportedly due to COVID-19 restrictions. For Gwanda residents, this is unacceptable.

COVID-19 has brought with it restrictions that have affected several businesses, smallholder farmers have not been spared. A high good farming season this year will not translate to higher returns.
