TSHOLOTSHO — Villagers from Mabhandeni line under Chief Mathuphula’s jurisdiction have spotted two crocodiles at Mabhandeni stream – close to Gwayi River.
This has created panic and commotion among villagers who fear that the reptiles might descend to Magwatu dam where some villager fetch water.
Villagers have since informed Tsholotsho Rural District Council Campfire department about the reptiles.
Villagers attribute the prowling of the dangerous reptiles to recent torrential rains in the area — that have caused big rivers such as Shangani and Zambezi to overflow, causing crocodiles to stray.
No incident of crocodile attacks has so far been reported but word has since spread like wildfire within a short space of time, with some villagers demanding that the dreaded reptiles be hunted and killed before they pause danger to human beings and livestock.
Our citizen reporter was not able to get a comment from the local authority but we will follow up on the story to get full details.
